In the January 2007 issue I made
the point that prior to 1960 twenty to thirty
books constituted an impressive automotive book
collection. Naturally books that have been written
since then cover the makes and subjects that readers
are nostalgic for and pre-nostalgic (historical)
coverage has become less common. Authors take
aim at what most readers remember because publishers
do not print books that do not sell well. If you
are like me and thirst for early automotive history,
your best bet is to find those pre-1960 publications.
Remember the museum that I mentioned in the June
2007 issue? The one with the storage room packed
with literature going back 100 years that they
never got around to sorting and inventorying
much less displaying. We are now proud to present
some of the results of our own sorting and inventorying:
If you like what you see here,
watch for more on our future online
catalogs. And not just books, but memorabilia,
brochures, press photos, dealer literature, maps,
art, postcards and a variety of unusual automotive
items.
