When I discovered sports cars in the
early 1950s I immersed myself in learning about the
best the world had to offer. "Road & Track",
"Motor Trend", Fawcett and Trend Books guided
me to Ferrari, Maserati, Mercedes-Benz and Aston Martin.
But they were just dreams. Reality was an occasional
MG, Triumph or Jaguar that actually existed in the far
off cities that I visited.
Then, in the 1960s, came Lamborghini. I did not pay
much attention to them until 1968 when, on a business
trip to London, I passed a showroom with a Miura facing
the street. I did a double take and so did my camera.
The showroom was closed and, to take a photo through
the showroom window was impossible with the sun reflecting
my own image. But I remember the car as though it were
yesterday.
Since that initial introduction to Lamborghini, I began
my "Lambo" literature collecting and it became
very complete, including the first 350GT brochure. Like
most of my collections, I eventually sold it for a profit
after enjoying it for many years. But don't worry...
we still find Lamborghini literature and a nice section
from Miura to modern is available.
