Are we back where we were 100 years ago? At that time electric, steam and gasoline all competed for dominance in propelling the automobile. The high cost of gasoline and its' scarcity gave the other sources of power an advantage that they quickly lost. Now, here we are again with those advantages and an additional reason — save the environment.

It is interesting to note that in the 1970s and 80s there was a resurgence in the interest in electric vehicles due to the high price of gasoline. By the 1990s that was almost forgotten, but the literature and some of the cars still remain. This has stirred up interest in the old car hobby and a review of some of what is available follows:
